Screens VNC - Control your computer remotely App Reviews

Works great for macs - sort of works for windows

First off, this is probably my favorite vnc viewer ever, including desktop clients. Its buttery smooth and works terrifically... As long as you are connecting to a Mac. Getting it to connect to a windows computer is another question altogether. I couldnt for the life of me get the helper app to accept the fact that my router did in act support upnp, though half the time it didnt seem sure if it wouldnt work either. The helper app should come for windows pre bundled with a vnc server with ssh auth so you dont have to jump through all the hoops... In any case now about half the time I can get onto my windows computer which is only my local network, half I cant. My Mac outside my local network works great though. Also, the iCloud sync does work.

Bluetooth support only for alpha-numeric!

It supports Bluetooth keyboards, but only for alpha-numeric keys, so whats the point? Also, theres no method for directly manipulating the cursor, so you can only touch to click on things. How are you supposed to hit, for example, the close button on a window without hitting the minimize button? Are you expected to zoom in every time you want to click on something? Other apps like Remoter that allow you to use the screen as a touchpad are much more effective. This does have a very nice UI, but I just found it unusable for actually getting anything done on the remote computer.

Need Screens Connect or app worthless

Try to install Screens Connect on your host computer before buying the app. I bought the app but am not able to get Screens Connect to work on host computer so I wasted the money buying the app.

Works Great

I needed a way to access the files on my home computer and ran across this app. Very simple setup, works as advertised with no issues. Runs everything on your computer as if you are sitting in front of it. Leave the house on a trip start up photo booth and have a look around to make sure everything is ok! So many uses I love it. Cant say how it works on a windows machine, but I tied into all the Macs at home in a very short time.

greg

Worked for a while and stopped. Upgraded. To latest version, reconfiged connection...nothing I did would get it to connect again. Try something else if you need this to work. Update: I uninstalled it reinstalled and WAS CHARGED AGAIN, and it now works. Nice scam-

Good but crashes all the time

When it works its great, but if your hoping to rely on this to manage your computer remotely, you better have another way of doing so. I would happily give it 5 stars it it wouldnt crash 9 out of 10 times I use the app. On a side note, since the last update, I havent been able to connect.

One missing feature…

Am I the only person around that thinks the iTeleport mousing mode is vastly superiority the touch interface in Screens? The imprecise touch-to-mouse mechanic here is extremely frustrating to me. If Screens had a similar feature I would abandon iTeleport forever…

Screens is fantastic!

No problems here, mousing works well. Always reliable.

Its awesome

Best VNC app around, and works especially well with macs. Well worth the expensive price for the features and ease of use.

Works beautifully

This is the most intuitive and reliable VNC client Ive tried. Supports SSH tunneling, so I dont have to open up additional ports on my firewall. And its a beautiful app, a benefit that I hope needs no more justification in this day and age.

Doesn

This app doesnt work for me on my iPhone or iPad and their support is useless; they simply ask questions already answered. Installation and use instructions are poor. Using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. All setups of router, firewall, etc. according to instructions.

Still Crashes Every Time I Tap An Action Button

Id love to give this app a good rating, but its completely unusable. Honestly, I feel a little cheated that I paid $20 for an app which was very highly reviewed and I cant even add a machine because the app crashes as soon as I touch the "add" button. When this first started I thought surely Edovia would release an update soon that would resolve the issue, but that was two updates ago. The description for version 2.1.1 tells me it fixed this issue, but it does not. App still crashes every time. Ill gladly re-evaluate my rating if you guys can ever fix this bug…but if you dont do it soon Im going to be asking for a refund on my purchase price.

Scrolling?!

Two finger scrolling repeatedly activates dictation on my mac. Took me two days to find out what that annoying dinging sound was. Make it stop!

Wont connect

This is a great app when it works. Unfortunately it very rarely works. Every time I try and access my computer when Im away from home, the connection is refused. It has worked in the past and on very rare occasions. For the most part however, I find this app to be useless.

Dont update

This new update hasnt been able to connect to my Mac Lion Server. The previous version worked great.

Exceptional!

This program simply works like it should! Easy to set up and it functions better than various other programs I have tried. It is a little more expensive than others but once you try it youll be glad you made the purchase. I very rarely write reviews but after setting this up throughout my home network I was shocked how easy it was. Also allows for public VNC when Im away from my home network!! If youre reading this review looking for a VNC app for your iPad or iPhone I would say BUY IT! You will not be disappointed.

After iOS6 it crashes!!

Since upgrading to iOS6 every time I try to connect the app crashes!! Worked fine before the upgrade.

Awesome! When it works

When it works, its a great help: but its far outweighed by the frustration of trying to get it to connect. One of the updates broke whatever was working great. Havent been able to connect to my computer for the past month.

Windows Authorization does not work

Downloaded and tried to conect to Real VNC windows computers with windows autorization and it does not work. No mention of this in any of the on line documentation or product requirements. If you use windows authrization with RealVnc or UltraVNC do not buy this product it will be a waste of $20.00

Best vnc for Mac and iOS! Screw splashtop

I have spent about $100 trying different remote desktops to get my MacBook screen on my iPad. This is the most beautiful design and best app if tried! It allows to use mission control and navigate through full screens on you Mac.
